As the CEO for Tesla Motors (an electric car manufacturer), Musk doesn’t just want to change the automotive industry on his own. Yes, Tesla makes beautiful cars with impressive electric technology, but he has no desire to keep their methods a secret. Rather than protecting his ideas and patents, he invites other manufacturers to utilize Tesla’s technology with the hope that it will help speed up the process of transitioning to more sustainable forms of transportation.
Musk also has his hands in several other pots, including being chairman and founder of companies looking into options for Mars colonization, solar energy and sustainable high speed transportation. We can’t wait to see what brilliance he dreams up next.
With her own non-profit organization focused on creating documentaries to increase awareness on global issues, Céline is focused on doing her part to make sure the voices of struggling cultures and endangered animal species are heard. From oceans to rainforests, manatees to coral reefs, Céline is working hard to raise awareness and provide a voice for some of Earth’s quietest inhabitants.
Céline isn’t the only one focused on making a difference in the Cousteau family, and it is obvious that her Grandfather Jaqcues’ influence has spread through the family tree. Céline’s brother Fabien has his own conservation organization and it also a filmmaker and oceanographic explorer. Céline’s father Jean-Michel and cousin Philippe Jr. have both also produced dozens of environmental documentaries. It’s great to see that the Cousteaus are keeping environmental awesomeness in the family.

Since joining Greenpeace in 2009 Naidoo has become very passionate about influencing changes in the energy sector, and is being hailed as Greenpeace’s best hope for success. With numerous focuses such as destructive fishing, chemical manufacturing and responsible farming, in addition to the main focus of climate change, Greenpeace and Naidoo have big plans for the future.
Former Uruguayan president José Mujica has been regarded as the world’s most radical president and the last hero of politics. During his time in power Mujica was known for being very outspoken and influential as a voice against hyper-consumption, pollution and how politics are enabling these issues, amongst many other topics.
Mujica was also known as the world’s poorest president after remaining in his tiny farmhouse, giving 90% of his presidential salary to charity, keeping his 25-year old car and refusing to live in the presidential palace. He sets an amazing example by living simply, not being wasteful and showing the world that many of us who have access to so much can easily live with less. He has done many speeches at UN and G20 events which have received millions of views on YouTube, and continues to be a strong role model worldwide.
While most of our other favourite Hollywood hunks are grabbing lattes at Starbucks and taking gym selfies, Leonardo DiCaprio is setting a great example for his fans and his peers in Hollywood. Just by taking a look at his Instagram account you can see where his priorities lie. Leo uses his powerful voice to increase public awareness on important environmental and social issues. He practices what he preaches as well by making an effort to be environmentally friendly in his home-life with the use of electric / hybrid cars and solar panels.
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation’s mission statement is “Dedicated to protecting Earth’s last wild places and implementing solutions that create a harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world” and they have been making a difference since 1998. They have donated generously to reputable charities such as the Wildlife Conservation Society and Elephant Crisis Fund, and Leo himself has become a staple at UN climate discussions and various other global environmental initiatives.
